Business Listing Policy
Effective Date: August 13, 2026
Florida Alterations is intended to provide a useful directory of legitimate alteration, tailoring, sewing, bridal, formalwear, and related businesses serving customers in Florida.
This Business Listing Policy explains what businesses may be included and how listings may be managed.
1. Florida Businesses
Listings must represent businesses that genuinely operate in Florida or provide legitimate local services to Florida customers.
Businesses located entirely outside Florida with no meaningful Florida service presence may be rejected or removed.
2. Eligible Businesses
Businesses may be eligible if their primary or substantial services include areas such as:
- Clothing alterations
- Tailoring
- Seamstress services
- Wedding dress alterations
- Bridal alterations
- Formalwear alterations
- Suit alterations
- Tuxedo alterations
- Dress alterations
- Clothing repair
- Garment resizing
- Custom sewing
- Custom clothing
- Costume alterations
- Embroidery when related to garment services
- Leather alterations
- Uniform alterations
- Vintage garment restoration
- Related sewing and alteration services
Florida Alterations may determine whether a business fits the directory.
3. Legitimate Business Information
Listings must contain truthful information.
Businesses may not intentionally misrepresent:

Florida law contains consumer protection provisions addressing deceptive and unfair trade practices, and federal advertising rules also prohibit deceptive advertising.
4. Business Names
Use the business’s real world name.
Do not stuff business names with unnecessary keywords.
For example, a business named:
Maria’s Sewing Studio
should not submit itself as:
Maria’s Sewing Studio Best Wedding Dress Alterations Tailor Seamstress Tampa Florida Cheap Alterations
unless that is genuinely its established business name.
5. Business Locations
Listings should represent legitimate locations.
We may reject or remove:
- Fake addresses
- Fabricated locations

- Locations where the business does not actually operate
- Misleading virtual offices
- Duplicate locations
- Addresses belonging to unrelated businesses
Home based alteration businesses may be allowed when legitimate.
For privacy and safety, a home based business may be permitted to hide its exact street address and display a service area instead where our directory functionality allows it.
6. Service Area Businesses
Some seamstresses and tailors work by appointment, travel to customers, provide mobile services, or operate from private studios.
These businesses may list appropriate cities, counties, ZIP codes, or service areas instead of misleading customers into believing they have storefronts where none exist.
7. One Listing Per Location
A business should generally have one listing for each legitimate operating location.
Duplicate listings may be:
- Merged
- Redirected
- Removed
- Marked as duplicates
When duplicate records contain different useful information, Florida Alterations may combine information into a single listing.
8. Multiple Locations
Businesses with multiple genuine locations may have separate listings.
Each location should have information specific to that location whenever possible.
9. Publicly Available Business Information
Florida Alterations may create listings using information gathered from publicly available sources or lawful data sources.
A business does not necessarily have to personally submit a listing before appearing in the directory.
10. Claiming a Business
Business owners or authorized representatives may be allowed to claim existing listings.
We may require verification.
Verification may include confirming:
